Start by fixing a total budget rather than a sticker price: on a ₹6 lakh car in Telangana you should expect roughly ₹35,000–₹60,000 more for ownership transfer, insurance, and any immediate servicing. Shortlist three or four cars in that band before you contact anyone — buyers who visit a single car almost always overpay.

The Registration Certificate (RC) is the legal proof of who owns a vehicle. RC verification means checking the registration number against the government VAHAN database and confirming that what comes back — owner name, chassis and engine number, registration date, fuel type, insurance validity, and hypothecation status — matches the car in front of you and the person selling it.

The transfer is filed at the RTO where the vehicle is registered, and the core set is: Form 29 (notice of transfer, two copies) and Form 30 (application for transfer), both signed by buyer and seller; the original RC; valid insurance; a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate; the seller's and buyer's address and ID proof; PAN or Form 60; and passport photographs. Sale receipts should be kept by both parties.

Three things decide how quickly a listing sells: price, photographs, and completeness. Price against what comparable cars in your city are actually listed at — not what you paid, and not what a valuation calculator says in isolation. A car priced 10% above the local market can sit for months; one priced at market usually moves within a fortnight.
